What Is Love?

Love is more than words you say
Or meaningless chatter to pass the day
It's more than a feeling deep in the heart
Even more than missing while apart.

Surely love is a strong emotion
But more than that it's loyal devotion
Love does not try to possess its mate
Nor does it find the room to hate.

Love does not envy nor is easily made mad
It's not a sick feeling but it makes the heart glad
Love will go the second mile
And do it gladly with a smile.

Love will weather the roughest wrong
And keep on singing  a joyous song
Love is never haughty, selfish, or proud
It's gentle and soft, never demanding or loud.

Love will work when nothing else could
Love will endure when no one else would
For you see true love is found on the rock
And Jesus alone has the key to its lock.
